Compost Away Update
July 15, 2009Monday July 13th Compost Away held its first public presentation on the project. It was held at the Labrador Friendship Centre for the New Horizons for Seniors program with six people in attendance.
The presentation began with a brief introduction of the Compost Away project and its goals. A PowerPoint presentation was then given on general backyard composting. There were many questions from the participants on both the project and on composting in general.
The discussion ranged from best composting practices to farming questions to gardening. The participants enjoyed the presentation and took valuable information away from the evening.

So far the project has diverted 7648lbs from the municipal solid waste stream.
